An extended version of the Thermal Conductivity Test Tool λ-Meter EP500e (guarded hot plate apparatus) provides a fully automated robot for changing of specimens. This upgrade can be made anytime. The "open" layout of the measureing instrument is ideal for simple, reliable and inexpensive additions.

All specimens to be tested are piled in serial order and put into the rotary lift. The corresponding parameters are entered via the dialogue screen of the PC. After start of the test series the bottom specimen will be moved onto the Thermal Conductivity Test Tool λ-Meter EP500e by a horizontal robot arm. The specimens above will be retained in their original position by a horizontal sliding door, it will open and adjust to the respective specimen thickness. The specimen inserted into the tool pushes the previous specimen forward. It will be discharged from tool and fall on the floor next to the tool.

This automated solution can be operated fully-automatic with a barcode scanner.
